Tigers dominate triangular
Thursday, February 1, 2001
Steamboat Springs The Hayden Tigers wrestling team came out ahead in a triangular wrestling meet at Soroco High School Thursday night.
The team beat Soroco 54-15, which only wrestled six boys, and rolled over North Park 66-9, who wrestled four boys.
"We wrestled pretty good," Tigers coach John Svoboda said. "But we go a lot of forfeits."
With the win, Hayden takes its conference and prepares for the regional tournament in Palisade Feb. 9.
The Soroco Rams tied North Park 24-24 in its matchup. Though his squad was undermanned against Hayden, Rams coach Doug Gates said it was one of the better nights for his team.
"They wrestled really well," he said. "As good as I've seen them all year."
