Steamboat Springs The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association will promote Kim Mitchell to the position of director of communications and online marketing after the resignation of Marketing Director Charlotte Mills, Sandy Evans-Hall said Wednesday.
Evans-Hall, the executive vice president of the chamber, said the organization was taking the chance to restructure after the resignation, changing the position to include more online marketing duties.
Mitchell was the information technology director for the chamber and worked heavily on designing the organization's Web site. The chamber will also promote Susan Ghysels to the position of public relations director.
Evans-Hall said the promotions reflect a change in the way the chamber will undertake marketing in the near future.
"We're putting more of a focus on online marketing and public relations. These two areas are going to be more and more important," Evans-Hall said.
Mitchell, in fact, got 60 percent of the people running in the marathon to register on line, Evans-Hall said.
After serving just a few months as marketing director for the chamber, Mills stepped down from her position on Aug. 20 due to personal reasons, Evans-Hall said.
Mills did not return phone calls about her resignation.
Mills came to the chamber from a job as integrated marketing manager with the dessert division at Kraft Foods in New York. She had treated Steamboat as a second home where she would come to see husband Steven Mills for a number of years, the chamber said.
