R&B band plays Headwall today

Steamboat Springs — The legendary rhythm and blues band Double Trouble heads to the stage today for the last show of the free Summer Concert Series headed by Great Knight Productions and other local businesses in Steamboat Springs.
The band will perform at 5:30 p.m. today at the base of Headwall at Mount Werner. Double Trouble, an instrumental blues and rock band, will take fans back to the 1980s when they played with the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, a legendary blues guitarist.
Although the music has changed since Vaughan's death in 1990, Double Trouble remains strong with the drum and bass duo Chris Fayton and Tommy Shannon.
Double Trouble released "Been a Long Time" in February 2001 as a family affair, inviting guest artists Jimmie Vaughan, Eric Johnson, Charlie Sexton and Doyle Bramhall II, among many others.
"They always have a guest vocalist. That's what they're known for, as well as having an all-star lineup," said John Waldman, owner of Great Knight Productions. "I haven't seen them, but other promoters say they're an excellent show."
Waldman said the popularity of the free shows continues to grow every year and he's pleased with the lineup of musicians Steamboat has seen this summer.
"We're thankful to our sponsors because that's what makes this thing run," Waldman said. "It has been a successful year."
Waldman estimated between 2,500 and 3,000 people attend each show based on concession sales.
