ALPINE BISTRO TO HOST BOOK SIGNING
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSOwner of Alpine Bistro Brent Holleman's sister, Deborah Tyler Blais, will be presenting a book signing for "Letting Your Heart Sing: A Daily Journal for the Soul" at 5 p.m. Monday at Alpine Bistro.
Her book is the story of her fight to overcome drug addiction and breast cancer, encouraging readers to find the joy in their lives.
Blais is touring the nation to promote the book.
Alpine Bistro and Off the Beaten Path Bookstore present Blais and Holleman will provide free hors d' oeuvres.

MAD CREEK BARN HIKE SCHEDULED
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSPartner's in Interpretation present a free hike to the Forest Service's Mad Creek Barn to see the new renovations to the historic structure from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
The hike continues every Thursday with varying times from now until Sept. 27, including an extra hike Sept. 15.
Good hiking shoes, water and rain gear are essential. The hike is 4 miles round trip and is an easy to moderately strenuous walk.

MUSIC ON GREEN SET FOR THURSDAY
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSStrings in the Mountains presents Music on the Green free concert with the jazz group Brown and Haagedorn Duo at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at the Yampa River Botanic Park.
Strings also presents a final concert with Asleep at the Wheel at 8 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Strings tent in Torian Plum Plaza.
Tickets for the western swing band are $25 and available at All That Jazz and at the Strings box office.

RAILROAD STATION LECTURE ON AUG. 23
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSPartners in Interpretation presents Tie Hack and Hog Park Tour from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 23. Lunch is provided after an educational lecture and tour of the railroad built in the 1900s by Swedish and Norwegians in north Routt.
Cost is $25 a person, $45 a couple, reservations required.

BROWN BAG LECTURE SERIES CONTINUES
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSTread of Pioneers Museum presents the 2001 Brown Bag Lunch Series at noon every Friday through August. Tread of Pioneers is on the corner of Oak and Eighth streets.
The museum also offers a Brown Bag Extra with Mary Hunt presenting "Stories of Hahn's Peak" based on Rose Wheeler's book "God's Mountain" at noon Wednesday.
