Beulah was born Nov. 12, 1910, in Palmer, Neb. to Floyd Musser and Myrtle Edwards Musser. Her family was from Dutch, French and English origin.
Buelah moved to Routt County in 1921 when she was 11 and lived and went to grammar school in Clark. Beulah moved to Steamboat Springs for high school and lived with the John Crawford family. The Crawfords were very good to Beulah and she always looked back on this time with them as a wonderful experience for her.
Beulah graduated from Steamboat Springs High School May 24, 1928, and two day later she married her high school beau, Carl Combs. They bought a small home on James Street in Steamboat and over the next few years had two sons, Jim and Floyd. The family loved to go fishing and camping together.
Beulah was a devoted wife and mother and took great care in providing a warm and comfortable home. Every year she had a huge garden and many beautiful flowers.
Beulah's older son Jim married Willa Shilds and together they had four children, Becky, Scott, Jenny and Pam. Her younger son, Floyd married Frances Jiminez, and they had two children Mitch and Debra.
Beulah loved children and over the years, provided quality and loving child care for many children in this community whose parents worked outside the home.
In 1974, Beulah's younger son Floyd passed away. A little over a year later, in 1975, her husband Carl passed away. They had been married over 47 years.
In 1991, Beulah's older son Jim passed away.
In 1980, Beulah married Frank Harms, who was also widowed. Frank's children and their spouses, Leland and Ilagrace Harms; Ada and Bruce Boelter and Wilma and Walt Stroh and their families welcomed Beulah into their large family.
As a couple, they were a familiar sight walking around Steamboat and being part of the group outings with the senior citizens. Beulah and Frank spent winters in Arizona, traveled in Mexico and loved to fish and collect sea shells. After 18 years of marriage, Frank passed away in 1999.
Beulah was a kind and gentle soul who was loved by her large extended families and by many friends she made over her lifetime. In later years, she enjoyed good time with the other seniors who lived in the Pine Street Apartments. In her final days, the help she received from her long-time friend, Thelma Whitmer, and the care and friendship provided by the many wonderful people at Visiting Nurse Association were very important to Beulah.
Buelah passed away July 30, 2001.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Mitch, and a great-granddaughter, Tiffany.
Beulah is survived by her two sisters, a daughter-in-law, her three step-children and their spouses and grandchildren, Becky Korb, Scott Combs, Jenny Duran, Pam Warkentine, Debra Combs, Linda Hibbert, Aletha Dove, Cindy Wright, Earnie Harms, Craig Boelter, Todd Boelter, Karen Siefkes, Donna Newland, Janice Newland, Lloyd Newland and Lorinda Kaylor.
