Verna Myers passed away July 30, 2001, at the Doak Walker Care Center in Steamboat Springs.

Verna was born in 1913, in Oak Creekthe daughter of Routt County pioneers, Elmer and Emma Helm.

Her marriage to Jacob Myers produced three daughters, Sheryl (Myers) Marshall, Carol (Myers) McDarment and Laurel (Myers) Boring.

She is survived by her daughters and six grandchildren, Willard Marshall III, Shari (Marshall) Copeland, Debra (Marshall) Dillon, John Boring, Gerald Johnson and Justin Johnson; three great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her niece, Mary Ann (Helm) Lieske; one nephew; three grandnieces and many great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Helm and Emma Helm, her brother, Melvin Fern Helm; a niece, Shirley Sue Helm; her husband, Jacob Myers; her second husband, Charles Springsteel and by her granddaughter, Brenda Lee Fread.

Cremation has taken place.

Verna's family ranch became what is now a multitude of homes along the road to Fish Creek Falls, including Valverdant and other developments. She grew up in a farmhouse sitting under the willow trees where the development know as Fox Run is today.

Verna worked for 36 years at the Chief Theatre in Steamboat Springs. Her work there and at numerous other jobs during her lifetime contributed to the community in which she lived.

Her lifetime spanned the eras of the horse and wagon to the era of space exploration.

She marveled at the changes she had seen in her lifetime and was hopeful for the things and events that would come in her descendants' lives.
