AUTHORS FEATURED IN LITERARY SOJOURN
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSLiterary Sojourn is Sept. 8 at the Performing Arts Tent in Torian Plum Plaza featuring Chris Bohjalian, Andre Dubus III, Jacquelyn Mitchard, Sena Jeter Naslund and Gail Tsukiyama. The day begins with registration from noon to 12:30 p.m., author presentations and edible treats from 12:30 to 5 p.m. and a book signing and reception from 5 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $65 before Aug. 24, $75 after. WORKSHOP ON PLEIN AIR BEGINS TODAY
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Small Works Gallery at the Depot Art Center presents the Plein Air Painters Workshop in the Plein Air Exhibit today through Sept 24. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Call 879-9008.
ENTRIES SOUGHT FOR FINE CRAFT 2001
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Steamboat Springs Arts Council is accepting entries for the Fine Craft 2001 show and the Winter Works 2002 show.
The summer art show is an international juried exhibition open to all media that will run from Aug. 3 to Sept. 14.
The show judge is Michael Komanecky, chief curator for the Phoenix Art Museum.
The fine craft show is Oct. 12 to Nov. 25. Winter Works 2002 will run from Jan. 18 through Feb. 24
The show is open to clay, fiber, metal, glass, wood and other mixed media.
The show judge is Donna Banning, California Art Education Association president. Entry deadline is Aug. 31. Entry fees for Steamboat Springs Arts Council members are $9 per piece, $25 up to three pieces; and $12 per piece for non-members, $30 for up to three pieces. GUIDED HIKE, GOURMET LUNCH
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSSteamboat Ski Corp. presents a High Alpine Guided Hike and Gourmet Lunch Experience through Sept. 1 on Fridays and Saturdays. The Steamboat Ambassadors will take people on a guided mountain hike for a white tablecloth gourmet lunch accompanied by select wine.
Meet at the information center in Gondola Square at 10:30 a.m., lunch is around noon and hike back to the gondola for a ride down around 2 p.m. The cost is $35 for adults 21 and older, $19 for young adults 13 to 20 and $12 for children 6 to 12.
It is recommended that children under 10 not participate in the hike. You can purchase tickets at Steamboat Central Reservations
