SEARCH FOR CHEF CONTINUES

OAK CREEKOak Creek town officials have whittled the selection process of the new police down to about 12 applicants.

Interim Chief Ilene Rossi will make some calls next week on some of the applicants to still see if they are still interested.

By the second week of May, phone interviews with the nine-person hiring committee should begin, Oak Creek Trustee Sonja Norris said.

At last count, 23 people have applied for the job.

But some applications may squeeze in before the cut-off date of May 7.

NEW COFFEE SHOP OPENS

OAK CREEKSouth Routt may have a new place to get a hot cup of Joe.

Routt County local Tina Bird said she has plans to open a coffee shop called Mug Shots in the Oak Creek Plaza Building.

Bird said she hopes to have the business up and running by May.

"I'm going to be open at 6 a.m., so people can get a cup before they go off to work," Bird said.

Baked goods also will be available at the shop, which will be baked in the old Routt Memorial Hospital's convection oven.
