Haymaker opens links on Tuesday

— Golf pro Hank Franks announced on Wednesday that the Haymaker Golf course will open May 1.

"We would have liked to get it open an little earlier," Franks said. "But that's when we scheduled it and that is when it will happen."

Franks said the phones have been ringing off the hooks in the past week with golfers wanting to know when the course would open. Franks said, barring any ugly weather this week, the opening will come next Tuesday.

"We are not taking tee times for that day," Franks said. "Golfers will be allowed out on the course on a first-come, first-served basis."

Golfers can call in for tee times for May 2. Residents will pay a reduced rate of $30 for 18 holes in the early season. Franks said the rates will increase to the regular rate of $39 once the course conditions improve.

He added the entire course will open at the same time. That includes all 18 holes, the practice range, the putting green and the chipping green.

"We are excited to get things up and running again," Franks said. "It should be another great season."
