— Oak Creek town officials will try to claim a 15-foot strip of land near South Arthur, in south Oak Creek, to allow property owners in that area to annex into the town.

The issue came up when the a property owner in South Arthur wanted to open a meat packing plant in South Arthur, which is not in the Oak Creek town limits.

The county told the property owner to ask the town for an annexation.

Oak Creek Town Manager Ray Leibensperger told the Oak Creek Board of Trustees, Thursday, that a 15-foot stretch of land separates property in South Arthur to property owned by the town.

He explained that the town can't annex in a piece of property unless a portion of it is adjacent to town property.

He and Public Works Director Chuck Wisecup looked at maps of the area and couldn't find an owner for the piece of land.
