Low-priced golf pass deal ends today

— Though Steamboat's Haymaker Golf Course won't open until at least May 1, only one day remains to purchase a season golf pass at a specially low price.

Local residents can buy their season discount passes at the City of Steamboat Springs Parks and Recreation office at 245 Howelsen Parkway (next to the Ice Arena) between 8 a.m and 5 p.m. Friday.

The discounted price for an adult season pass is $825 and the cost of a spouse add-on is $695.

A junior add-on is $125 and a junior individual pass is $250.

Ten-round punch cards are running for $360.

After Friday, the price for an adult season pass will rise to $950, and a spouse add-on will cost $850. All other prices will remain the same.

Cardholders will receive a photo identification card that allows them to take advantage of a computerized telephone reservation system for tee times.

Cardholders will be able to use an ID number to make reservations 24 hours per day.

To qualify for a local discount, individuals must show one of three forms of identification at the time of purchase.

Those identifications are a Colorado drivers license with a Routt County address, a Routt County voter's registration card or a Routt County notice of property valuation.

And it is still possible to get a local discount on individual rounds, by bringing one of the three forms of ID to the Haymaker Pro Shop.

Locals will pay $39 for 18 holes this season.

John Vanderbloemen, chairman of the Golf Committee, said the discounted passes are a good bargain for local golfers.

"It's something we try to do for the year-round locals," Vanderbloemen said. "It helps us with cash flow and it gives people a bargain if they want to sign up early."
