GRANT AWARDED FOR WATER SYSTEM

OAK CREEKOak Creek received a $100,000 mineral impact grant to be used for a water booster station and town officials say they want to get the project done by summer's end.

Town Manager Ray Leibensperger said work done by Town Trustee Bill Paxton and Mayor Deb Van Gundy helped seal the deal for receiving the grant.Town officials will use the money to construct a booster station, to improve water pressure for houses on high elevations.

BOOT SCOOTIN' TIME COMES TO YAMPA

YAMPAYampa will be host to the Wing Ding/Hoe Down dance, sponsored by the Cattlemen CattleWomen and the Ski Town Lions Club.

The Yampa Board of Trustee passed a unanimous motion to allow the groups to throw a street dance on June 16 on Moffat Avenue in Yampa. Last year the dance drew 550 people to Steamboat Springs. The dance is a fund-raiser for the three groups.

The Wing Ding/Hoe Down is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. with a barbecue, featuring the Routt County Cattlemen's secret beef smoking recipe, an auction, games and events for children and a street dance, which will end at 11 p.m.
