Steamboat Springs Lake Catamount Resort and Club is looking for a new top executive now that President and General Manager Mike Beckley resigned.
Catamount spokeswoman Jody Patten said Joe Petrash, vice president of club operations for Cordillera, which developed Catamount, has come to Steamboat to temporarily assume Beckley's responsibilities. They include overseeing operations of the golf club at Catamount Ranch as well as homeowner and community relations.
Beckley joined Catamount in September 1999. He reported to Cordillera Chief Operating Officer Tony Dawson. Beckley came to Steamboat from Vail but had not previously worked for Cordillera, which is based in the Vail Valley. Technically, Cordillera does business as Kensington Partners.
Beckley's departure marks the second key resignation at Catamount since the first of the year. Golf pro Randy Houseman, who oversaw the Catamount links during its first summer of operation in 2000, left to take a job with a course near Vail. He has been replaced by Jim Miller, formerly an assistant golf pro at Castle Pines Golf Club.
Patten observed that opening a new golf course "is a big endeavor."
"We thank all of the employees who made it a great opening season," Patten said. She added that other key employees at Catamount remain in place.
