Pedestrians hit by cars

— A young woman escaped serious injury after being hit by a car at 6:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon while crossing Lincoln Avenue at Fifth Street. The accident was the third of a rainy afternoon.
Heavy rain Thursday afternoon helped cause a slew of car accidents in Steamboat Springs in a period of only two hours. Between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m., there were two people hit by cars and one two-car crash.
The woman, whose name was not immediately available, was walking across Lincoln Avenue against the light when the car hit her heading east. The fire department's rescue unit was on the scene a few minutes later.
After the accident she was talking coherently, an eyewitness said. She was taken to Yampa Valley Medical Center in an ambulance, where she was discharged with a bruise, a hospital spokesman said.
