Midget hockey opens season with victories

Steamboat Springs The Steamboat Springs Midget A team opened play in the Continental Divide Youth Hockey league with three wins in last weekend's action.
Steamboat knocked off Laramie in the first of a three-game set 4-0.
Steamboat's Tyson Voyek, Adam Grimes, Josh Davis and Jeff Franks all scored goals in the contest. Franks, Drew Moon, Voyek and Dusty Henning all chipped in with assists.
Steamboat goalkeeper Jamie Mangus recorded the shutout in the contest.
In the second game of the day, Steamboat returned to the ice to beat Laramie in a 5-0 contest. Justin John, Voyek, Chad Barczuk, Charlie Townsend and Moon all netted goals in the contest. Moon, Alex Kleman, Kevin Tiedeman and Zach Turner recorded assists.
Steamboat completed the series sweep on Sunday with a 5-3 win over the same Laramie team.
Voyek, Moon, Franks, John Bowers and Peter Mayfield scored the goals. Dusty DeGroff, Townsend, Barczuk, Grimes and Moon all collected the assists in the contest.
