Steamboat Springs A 62-year-old Steamboat Springs woman was taken to the Yampa Valley Medical Center after a two-car accident Monday.
Eileen Stetson was traveling southbound on Elk River Road when the driver's side of her vehicle was struck by a vehicle that Thomas Dover, 44, of Steamboat Springs, was driving, Officer William Stucker said.
Stetson was taken to the hospital where she was treated for a broken collarbone, said Christine McKelvie, a hospital spokeswoman.
Stetson was released from the hospital later in the afternoon, she said.
The accident is under investigation, Stucker said.
"We are investigating whether Mr. Dover failed to yield the right of way," Stucker said.
The accident occurred at about 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Elk River Road and Copper Ridge Drive. Stucker said Dover was attempting to turn southbound on Elk River Road from Copper Ridge Drive when the two vehicle's collided.
The impact of the crash caused extensive damage to the front end Dover's truck and to the driver's side door of Stetson's car. Stetson's vehicle spun off the side of the road into a ditch because of the collision.Police officers were assisted at the scene by fire and ambulance personnel.
