Lynn David White 1951-2000

Lynn David "Dave" White died Sept. 3, 2000, in Steamboat Springs. He was 49.

Dave was born March 15, 1951, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to Claude and Mary (Meehan) White. He married Linda Roth Sept. 28, 1985, in Rapid City, S.D.

He received his master's degree in airport management and loved flying. Dave was enlisted as a B-52 gunner and instructor with the United States Air Force for 20 years, was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War and served his country all over the world. His rank was technical sergeant. He was also a dedicated member of the Steamboat Springs Civil Air Patrol Squadron.

Most recently, Dave was employed by Native Excavating Co. He and his wife moved to the Yampa Valley three-and-a-half years ago and were owners of the Fair Exchange.

He enjoyed skiing, John Wayne movies, reading about military history, raising horses and watching the elk and deer around his home at Elk Mountain.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Matthew Meents of Saint Louis Park, Minn.; a daughter, Claudia Meents of Steamboat Springs; two brothers, Neil White and his wife, Jean, and Brian White, all of Naples, Fla.; a sister, Marianne White of Naples, Fla.; and two nephews.

A funeral Mass was held Sept. 8 at the Holy Name Catholic Church with Father George Schroeder presiding. Interment was at the Elk Mountain Cemetery. Peterson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
