Steamboat Springs Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden and Bob Adams Field in Steamboat Springs were two of 28 airports awarded nearly $2 million in state grants, Gov. Bill Owens announced Friday.
Routt County will receive $111,706 from the Colorado Department of Transportation's Division of Aeronautics. Likewise, Steamboat Springs will get $20,000, the Governor's Office reported.
Money from the grants is to be used for aviation purposes, including runway repair, pavement maintenance and ramp improvements.
Other counties receiving grants were Gunnison, Archuleta, Boulder, Arapahoe, Eagle, Fremont, Garfield, Weld, Jackson, Jefferson, Moffat and Montrose.
In addition to Steamboat Springs, municipalities receiving grant money were Cortez, Fort Morgan, Glenwood Springs, Loveland, Fort Collins, Grand Junction, Limon and Wray.
The Colorado Aeronautical Board received 46 grant applications for runway repair, pavement maintenance and ramp upgrades. Funding comes from the aviation fuel tax.
