The Steamboat Boys U-10 recreational soccer team went undefeated in a statewide tournament held in Denver in October.
In the five-game series, Steamboat held its opponents to a total of five goals. The championship game against Grand Junction resulted in a double overtime shoot-out, with Matt Dawes scoring the tie-breaking goal.
Steamboat's team was comprised of Ryan McConnell, Charlie Smith, Blake Eddington, Josh Fix, David Yukobonis, Zach Valicenti, Kaelin Gunderson, Cody Fritz, Higg Roberts, Kerry Timmerman, Brian Bertrand and Dawes.
The team competed against 16 of the state's top 10-and-under teams to earn first place.
The team, coached by Rick Eddington, Tom Valicenti and Derek Fritz, began practice six weeks before the tournament.
The tournament, formerly known as the Pepsi Cup, is now referred to as the Keebler Cup.
