Steamboat Springs The Routt County Planning Commission will discuss changing zoning regulations that allow horses in all zone districts.
"It's created some problems in certain neighborhoods where there are small lots," said Director of Planning Caryn Fox.
Horses will be one of the issues discussed during today's planning commission meeting.
Fox said technically, a homeowner could have a horse on his lot in the Steamboat II neighborhood where lots can be less than a quarter acre.
The planning commissioners might consider limiting horses to a minimum acreage or limit horses to certain zones such as low- or medium-density residential or agricultural districts.
Also up for discussion, the city of Steamboat Springs is trying to amend a Special Use Permit for its sewer treatment building on County Road 33.
"They were told the building could not exceed 25 feet (in height). It's 35 feet," planner Jonathan Eastman said.
The county may ask the city to find a way to mitigate the visual impacts of the height violation.
The Planning Commission will also look at the final plat for the Timbers Village townhomes on East U.S. Highway 40.
The plat will finalize lot boundaries so the boundaries can be recorded and the owners can sell the townhomes.
The Planning Commission meets today at 6 p.m. at the Routt County Courthouse Annex in Steamboat Springs.
