Jefferson County Pueblo Central's Ronaleen Hancock raced to first place in the 400-meter dash on Saturday at Jeffco Stadium in Englewood, ending any state title hopes the Steamboat Sailors may have had.
Still, Steamboat's Rachel Starr was happy with her seventh-place finish in the event.
"I just want to have a solid race on Saturday," Starr said after qualifying on Friday. "I'm not thinking about the places."
Starr's seventh-place finish highlighted the Sailors efforts at the state's 4A championships.
Kyle Svendesen competed, but did not place in the triple jump on Saturday at the championships came to a close for the local team.
Steamboat sent six athletes to Jeffco Stadium last weekend. Starr and Svendsen were joined by teammates Darren Lucas (110-meter hurdles), Patrick McMahon (400-meter relay), Ryan Johnson (400-meter relay) and Ryan Wattles (400-meter relay).
