— Steamboat Medical will offer sports physicals at a reduced cost once again this spring to high school and middle school students who need them to participate in school sports programs.

The physicals will cost $20 and are good for one year. No player will be allowed to begin a school athletic practice without having a completed physical on record.

The special physicals will be conducted May 22-25 and again from May 30-June 1 from 5-8 p.m. at the Steamboat Medical building on Pine Grove Road.

Physicals at any other time will cost the regular office visit price. To schedule a physical call Kate Parke at the Steamboat Springs High School between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at 871-3687. Do not call Steamboat Medical Group.

Dr. Jim Dudley and a number of local doctors and physician's assistants are donating their time to help out with the physicals. Volunteers are still needed to assist with check-ins, answering phones, performing vision screening, copying and recording information. The more volunteers, the quicker the physicals will be completed. Parents and high school students are urged to volunteer.

"This is our chance to give something back and help out these young athletes," Dudley said.

Dudley coaches the Steamboat Spring girls soccer team in the spring each year. This season his team advanced to the regional playoffs.

All of the money collected by Steamboat Medical will be donated to the Steamboat Booster Club and used to support high school activities.
