Steamboat Springs Wes Davis and Roger Schaeffer combined to score a two-round total of 138 last weekend, winning a two-man best ball tournament at the Steamboat Golf Club.
The tournament, which featured mainly local teams, was played Saturday and Sunday.
The duo of Larry Stevenson and Nate Stevenson kept things close in the gross score bracket by scoring a 140 to take second. Martin Dennis and David Heist tied Steve Dobson and John Wesselman for third with a score of 144.
Todd Confer and Tod Bridges won the net division with a score of 111. Stan Dimuice and Danny Armstrong came in second at 114, and Wayne Rickaby and Mike Wommack came in third with a score of 115.
There also was a high flight in the tournament.
The team of Gunnar Ludwig and Paul Williams won that division with a score of 152. Randy Peterson and Darrell Winchester were second at 156 and Jon Swanson and Jim FahrenHoltz finished third with a score of 160.
In the net category, R.J. Slaven and Chuck Baker came in first at 114. Gil Gilbertson and Eric Scholl placed second at 115.
Two teams tied for third place in the division. Larry Covillo and Kent Bemham matched the team of Jim Denton and Craig Denton with a score of 119.
The two-man best ball was proceeded by a seniors tournament on Friday.
In that event, Walt Taylor took the gross division with a score of 81. Tony Fraoili was first in the net category with a score of 73.
The golf season is heating up with several more upcoming tournaments. This week, the Board of Realtors will host its annual fund-raising effort.
