Steamboat Springs The courts will be full at the Tennis Center this week as 184 of the best senior players in the Intermountain Division face off in a sectional championship.
The senior tournament, which will begin Thursday afternoon and end Sunday with championships, features players ages 30 to 75, with age divisions splitting the field into five-year classes. Steamboat hosted the tournament from 1993 until 1996.
When it returns for the 2000 edition, 16 local players will be among the elite field. Patty Kreutz, Bill Hill, Kellie Banisky, Barb Campbell, Scott Campbell, Doris Crimmins, Frank Cross, Jim Simon, Paul Hughes, Lou Johnston, Jo Geiger, Peter Patten, Barb Organ, Pat Organ, Barb Seik and Kathy Skytta are all qualified to play in the event.
The rest of the field will come from Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Idaho and Nebraska. This is the second major tournament of the summer.
Spectators will be admitted free.
