Marion L. Nichols 1899-2000

Marion Leckenby Nichols died at Wide Horizon Nursing Home in Wheatridge July 10, 2000. She was 100.

Marion was born in Steamboat Springs Aug. 8, 1899, to Charles H. and Laura (DeWitt) Leckenby. Her father was the owner of the Steamboat Pilot for nearly 60 years.

After graduating from Steamboat Springs High School, she attended Colorado State University. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Denver for 30 years until retiring in 1962.

She is survived by two sons, Robert of Decatur, Ill. and Frank of Sequim, Wash.; a sister, Betty Brennecke of Golden; a nephew, Charles Leckenby of Steamboat Springs; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and two brothers, Albert and Maurice of Steamboat Springs.

She was cremated. No services were held. Memorials in her name can be sent to Wide Horizon Nursing Home, 8600 W. 38th Ave., Wheatridge, 80033.
