Projects to impact drivers

— Railway and road projects will impact motorists from Steamboat Springs to Hayden starting this week.

In the city, Union Pacific Railroad has scheduled maintenance and repairs for the Fifth Street crossing near the rodeo grounds between 7 a.m. and noon Wednesday. Union Pacific will replace the steel rail and rebuild part of the railroad bed at the crossing.

Motorists will have to detour down U.S. 40 to the Mount Werner Road exit and head southeast on River Road, across the Treehaus Bridge and back into downtown to reach Howelsen Hill.

The Routt County Road and Bridge Department began its 2000 chip seal projects Monday. The work will continue through July 30.

The schedule is:

- July 17-18 County Road 53 from the Hayden city limits to the Seneca haul road.

- July 18-30 C.R. 27 beginning at C.R. 31 going west to the power substation just past Twentymile Coal Co. building.

- July 21 C.R. 14 beginning at Jack Creek east to C.R. 16.

- July 21 A one-mile section of C.R. 16 will be repaired from the intersection of C.R. 14.

Each chip-seal project will run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
