Man suspected of stealing hotel faucet

Steamboat Springs A former employee of the Steamboat Grand Hotel and his friend were arrested at 12:30 a.m. on June 16 after allegedly taking a Moen faucet and hardware accessories from the hotel.
Daniel Thompson, 27, and Jeffrey Peters, 27, were charged with second-degree burglary and theft after officers saw the two enter the hotel through the front door and run across the road after exiting, Fiebing said.
When officers approached the two men in a parking garage across the street, Thompson dropped an object on the ground while talking to the officers. The item was a box with a new Moen faucet and hardware accessories with a value up to $500.
Thompson told officers that he used to be an employee at the Grand Hotel and he was taking Peters to "show him around." He knew that he wasn't permitted into the hotel, Thompson told police, and he didn't go into the place to steal, but when he saw the faucet he took it, Fiebing said.
