Resident could get one year for threat

Steamboat Springs A 46-year-old Steamboat Springs man could be sentenced to one year in the Routt County Jail for an October incident where the man made threats with a knife.
Richard Lee Prejean Sr. pleaded guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor menacing stemming from an Oct. 27 incident in the 700 block of Weiss Drive.
Prejean pleaded guilty to the charge after a plea agreement was worked out between his attorney, Ron Smith, and Assistant District Attorney Kerry St. James.
Routt County Judge James Garrecht will sentence Prejean at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 17. Along with the jail sentence, Prejean can also be fined as much as $1,000.
Prejean spent 48 days in jail for threatening four men with a knife just after midnight Oct. 27. Initially, he was charged with felony menacing.
