Steamboat Springs Five Steamboat Springs football players recently finished their high school careers receiving All-Conference First-Team honors in the 3A Western Slope League.
Stewart Beall, Derek Haverley, Blake Julian, Tristan Covillo and JoJo Bucci helped lead the Sailors to an 8-3 record and a first-round state playoff appearance this season.
Haverley, who rushed for 655 yards and 11 touchdowns during the regular season, accounted for more than 1,400 yards of offense.
Beall finished the regular season with 1,133 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns through seven games. He spent three games on the sidelines with an injury.
Julian, a linebacker, was the team's leader in tackles with 102.
Covillo, who was double teamed in just about every contest, played with a torn meniscus in his left knee for the final seven games. He played defensive tackle.
Bucci, who played center and defensive end, scored a 57-yard touchdown against Glenwood Springs on a trick play known as the guard around.
Making the honorable-mention team were Jamie McKelvie, Kyle Svendsen, Rusty Eck, Tony Haight, Dillon Gottshall and Jason Wenzlau.
Sailors coach Mark Drake said his football players were well-deserving recipients of their awards.
The Sailors made it to the playoffs, where they met the Conifer Lobos. They defeated the Moffat County Bulldogs 49-6 during the regular season.
"It just shows the dedication and the work ethic and what they did all year long was outstanding," Drake said.
