— Police have identified the man who was found dead inside a local motel room as 62-year-old John Livingston.

Livingston was the owner of Livingston Gallery of Fine Art, 906 Lincoln Ave.

Steamboat Springs police officers responded to the Nordic Lodge about 4:35 p.m. Monday evening.

Livingston was found in a room dead with a gunshot wound to the head, said Assistant Police Chief Art Fiebing.

The death is under investigation, but police do not suspect foul play, Fiebing said.

Detective Robert DelValle is leading the investigation. He is working with Routt County Coroner Doug Allen.

Neither Allen nor DelValle could be reached for comment Tuesday.

Police suspect Livingston had been living at the Nordic Lodge, 1036 Lincoln Ave.

At this point in the investigation, authorities do not know how long Livingston had been dead or how long he had been a tenant at the lodge, Fiebing said.
