Steamboat Springs Elkhead chairlift at the Steamboat Ski Area will remain open during weekdays so skiers and riders can enjoy the full length of trails in the Priest Creek Area and still ride a lift back to the other side of the mountain.
However, Sundown Express, the primary means of returning directly to the top of the Priest Creek Summit, will close during the week.
Ski Area spokesman Mike Lane said Sunday skiers will have the option of taking Elkhead out of the Priest Creek drainage then skiing back over to Storm Peak Express chairlift for a ride back to the top of the mountain.
From the summit of Storm Peak, skiers can traverse the Highline trail and return to the gladed skiing in Priest Creek.
Two other chairlifts that opened over the weekend for skiers, Four Points and Bar UE, will close during weekdays, Lane said.
