John Samuel Courtney 1936-2000

John Samuel Courtney of Littleton died Aug. 6, 2000, at Swedish Medical Center. He was 64.

John was born April 25, 1936 in Walsenburg to Euphemia and James Courtney. He married Theora Mae Dunckley in Oak Creek on March 3, 1956.

He was the owner of the Toponas Country Store from 1979 to 1996. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling and sports.

He is survived by his wife, Teddy; a son, Don, of Torrance, Calif.; three daughters, Cindy Graybeal of Littleton, Colleen Courtney-Tufts of Aurora, and Cheryl Juergens of Fort Collins; five grandchildren, Courtney and Garret Graybeal, Tara Tufts and Levi and Logan Juergens; two brothers, Raymond Courtney of Aurora and Ken Courtney of Colorado Springs; and a sister, Betty Bonnifield of Colorado Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James; and a daughter, Terry.

A memorial service was held Aug. 11 at St. James Presbyterian Church in Littleton. He was cremated.
