Steamboat job posts go online

— Job hunters who want to combine the pursuit of untracked snow with a career in Ski Town U.S.A. could soon have two new ways to plan their winter.

John Ayer told a recent gathering of community leaders that a volunteer committee studying ways to ease the employee shortage in Steamboat is working to create a new online job database that will make it easier for prospective employees to choose Steamboat Springs.

"It would be a one-stop shop for people to job hunt and see how they can put seasonal jobs together." Ayer said. "We have a lot of momentum for quick success as well as for the long term."

The web site being planned by Ayer's committee is in addition to a similar site launched this month.

Pat Bonny, a labor employment specialist with the Colorado Work Force Center in Steamboat confirmed Monday her office went online last week with a database of available jobs in a four-county area including Routt County and Steamboat.

The job database includes positions available in Granby, Craig and Rangely, as well as in Steamboat.

Bonny said Carel Nickey, who is in charge of marketing at the local DWFC, is primarily responsible for the new web page. The site isn't finalized, and as yet, job listings are not updated daily, Bonny said. But that development should come soon.
