Lela Amanda Oberg died Aug. 8, 2000, at the Extended Care Center in Steamboat Springs. She was 101.
Lela was born Feb. 26, 1899, in Van Buren, Ark., the daughter of John W. and Nevada (Bolton) Keller. Her father and grandfather owned several grocery businesses in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
She married Arthur Oberg in Denver in 1924. They had one child, Frances "Dee Dee" Delaine. Lela enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and homemaking. She moved to Steamboat Springs in 1987 to be closer to her family.
During her life she witnessed the 1918 flu epidemic, World Wars I and II and the flight of Charles Lindbergh.
She is survived by two granddaughters, Carrie Wren and her husband, David, and Connie Brown and her husband, Rich; a son-in-law, Jack Barnes; and four great-grandchildren, Lee and Jackson Wren and Robby and Becky Brown, all of Steamboat Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter; and grandson, Robert Oberg Barnes.
No memorial services will be held. Cremation and internment will be at Fairmont Cemetery in Denver, next to her husband.
