Softball playoffs starting

— The number of teams playing softball in Steamboat Springs will be cut in half this week as four of the five recreational adult leagues begin postseason play.

The Coed B, Men's A, Men's B and Coed C leagues will play the first round of a single elimination tournament this week. The winners will advance, the losers will be finished. The only league not to open tournament play this week is the women's league. There are only five teams in that league and the tournament will take just one night, according to organizer Christian Tally.

The 10-week regular season came to a close last Thursday night. Regular season champions include the Dawgs in Men's A. That team finished with a 14-4 record for the season and scored a total of 337 runs.

Things were tight at the top of the Men's B division.
