Pro's son proves he has dad's touch

— Steamboat Springs golfer Jeff Franks shot 2 over par this week to win the Steamboat Springs Inter-club Championship which was held at the Steamboat Golf Club, Sheraton and Haymaker courses earlier this week.
Franks scored a 1-over-par 36 at Haymaker on Wednesday to clinch the tournament with a combined score of 109. Garrett McGinn was the next on the list at 116 for three days and Quinn Coale came in third with a round of 123.
"He just shot real steady all week," Haymaker pro, and dad, Hank Franks said.
Franks and many of the other players in the tournament spent Wednesday afternoon at the high school golf team's first practice. That squad will open the season next week.
Other winners in the inter-club championships included Hunter Hidalgo, who won the 13-15 age division with a round of 140, and Tucker Smalley, who won the 10-12 age division with a round of 138. Both golfers played 27 holes in the tournament.
Philp Riley won the boys' 7-9 age division with a 15-hole round of 84.
The championship also featured two girls divisions. Jenny Lee topped the girls' 11-12 division with a 27-hole round of 252.
Mirian Pensack won the girls' 7-9 class with a total of 141 for 27 holes.
All of the players in the tournament voted on a Payne Stewart Sportsmanship award. That was given to Chris Johnston.
"Overall it was just a great tournament," Hank Franks said. "I think everybody had a really good time."
