Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs resident Edward Moore, who was convicted last week of second-degree attempted murder, faces a sentence of five to 32 years in prison.
Moore, 48, also known as "Chief," said he stabbed Brian Lithgow twice in the back in self- defense last fall.
Moore said he didn't intend to kill him and was protecting himself and the woman who owns the home where the attack occurred.
On April 7, a 12-person jury found Moore guilty of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, use of a deadly weapon in a violent crime and unlawful use of cocaine.
Moore will be sentenced on May 22.
