Steamboat Springs — Police are urging people to lock their cars after nine were broken into Friday in the Steamboat Springs area.
Steamboat Springs Police Department Sgt. Scott Middleton said all the cars that were broken into in the city were unlocked, and it is suspected the same person broke into all of the cars. Cash, credit cards and electronics were taken from the cars.
The Routt County Sheriff's Office also received several reports of cars that had been broken into just outside city limits.
Police have identified a male suspect, and they were working to find him Saturday.
The man also is suspected of stealing a 2004 Toyota sedan worth $5,500 from the 3100 block of Ingles Lane. The keys had been left in the ignition.
