Steamboat Springs — The Wine Festival at Steamboat has announced main tasting events and personalities for its seventh annual celebration of wine and food.
Scheduled for Aug. 5 to 8 at venues in downtown Steamboat Springs and Torian Plum Plaza in the mountain area, the festival follows a similar format as in past years, with a kickoff celebration Thursday evening, public tasting events Friday and Saturday afternoons, and seminars throughout the weekend.
The seminar schedule will be announced May 1, said Gail Wiltshire, of presenting company TeamSage Productions.
On Saturday, Aug. 7, The Denver Five will join an array of local and regional chefs featured at the Toast of Steamboat grand tasting, Wiltshire said. Showcasing the talents of five of Denver's most successful cooks, The Denver Five includes past wine festival participant Tyler Wiard.
About a month after it appears at the Wine Festival at Steamboat, the group will cook for an event at the James Beard House in New York City.
Hosea Rosenberg, who came to the Wine Festival in 2009 after winning the fifth season of Bravo's popular "Top Chef" cooking show, will be back this summer. Wine personalities including Michael De Loach, of Hook & Ladder Winery, and David Phillips, of Michael-David Winery, also will be featured. Presenting chefs include Steamboat's Kate Rench, of Café Diva, and Christian "Goose" Sorensen, of the Denver restaurant Solera.
Festival organizers plan to donate 5 percent of ticket sales to Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports, or STARS. The local organization offers adaptive ski lessons for people with disabilities. Donations from the wine festival will help fund STARS programs and scholarships. Learn more about the organization at http://www.steam
