Wildhorse Marketplace set to host Seattle Firefighters

Luke Graham

— On Wednesday, the businesses at Wildhorse Marketplace will host a family-friendly block-party style benefit concert featuring performances from the Seattle Firefighters Pipes and Drums Band and Steamboat's own local branch of the Bennett School of Irish Dance.

This concert is supported by McKnights Irish Pub and Loft and the Yampa Valley Celtic Society, the local nonprofit supporting Celtic Culture in the Yampa Valley.

The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wildhorse Marketplace. Admission is by donation. Kid-friendly activities like face painting and balloon art will be offered in addition to the world-class talent performing on the stage. Free parking is available behind Sports Authority and the field across from McKnights.

The Seattle Firefighters Pipes and Drums is a traditional Scottish pipe band comprised of both active and retired firefighters dedicated to honoring their own.

The group is making a stop on its journey to the upcoming International Fallen Firefighters Memorial on Saturday in Colorado Springs.

The Seattle Firefighters are being joined by bagpipers from Washington state. Local Steamboat Springs professional firefighters also will be on hand.
