— The simplicity of the final stop on the 2010 Steamboat Springs Town Challenge Mountain Bike Race Series makes it the perfect backdrop to settle final point standings in several divisions.

Riders probably won't encounter surprises during today's Mount Werner Cross Country, a race that starts for most at the Thunderhead Express chairlift and goes on Zig Zag, Huffman's and Spur Run before descending Valley View.

"It's a classic course," Series Director Gretchen Sehler said. "People know it. They can judge times from last year and all that."

Registration will begin at 4:15 p.m. at Thunderhead with children's races to begin at 5 p.m. and adult heats slated for 5:30 p.m.

Day-of registration is $26 for adults and $16 for children.

What is unique to the race is that it's the only time the series races on Huffman's and descends down Valley View.

Brad Bingham holds a 107 to 104 lead against Barkley Robinson in the pro/open division.

Also battling for season championships are Tim Nylen and Joshua Enck in the men's expert 19 to 34 division, Marc Sehler and Roy Mckinstry in the men's expert 50-plus division, and Kelly Boniface and Tammy Jacques-Grewal in the women's expert division.

"Those are ones that are usually wrapped up at this time," Sehler said. "So that's exciting."

There also will be a post-race party and awards at Slopeside Grill. At the party, a drawing for a Moots bike will take place.
