April 18, 2015
Steamboat Springs — An event that welcomes foodies from all across Colorado and beyond will take place this August in Steamboat Springs.
The 12th annual Steamboat Wine Festival will be held Aug. 5 through 9 with an array of activities and events featuring local and national sommeliers, food experts and wineries.
The festival will host more than 500 different wines in addition to activities that include food and wine tastings, seminars and cooking demonstrations.
"For 12 years, we have created an experience and destination set in the Rocky Mountains that puts wine and food enthusiasts face-to-face with world-class chefs, sommeliers, brewers and vintners," said Jason Ornstein, owner of Team Player Productions, which organizes the festival. "We are honored to host the food and wine industry’s best and brightest in Colorado to participate in this unique experience."
This year, the festival will host more tasting seminars. In addition, a few of the other notable events include the hot-air balloon ride over the Yampa Valley titled "Come Fly with Me," the "Trails and Ales" group hike with Steamboat Ambassadors and a stand-up paddle boarding event called "Running the River."
Once again, the Steamboat Wine Festival has partnered with the the Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports (STARS) organization, which serves people with disabilities.
In the past, the festival has raised more than $250,000 for STARS, stated Courtney Mamuscia, with CompassPR, in press release sent out earlier this week. Funds raised have provided scholarships to assist programs that empower kids and adults with disabilities such as lessons in skiing or snowboarding, summer camps, horseback riding and the STARS and Stripes Heroes camps that is an outdoor recreation and adaptive sport camp for wounded military members.
Tickets range in price depending on the event. Tickets are currently on sale and sell out fast. To learn more about these tickets or events, visit steamboatwinefestival.com.
