— Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. has announced the lineup for the 12th annual Bud Light Rocks the Boat free concert series, which includes several Steamboat Springs favorites and a few new acts.

The concerts are at 3 p.m. outdoors in Gondola Square at the base of Steamboat Ski Area, and the final concert is at 2 p.m. on Closing Day, April 10. All shows are free and open to the public.

The series kicks off Feb. 26 with the North Mississippi Allstars, a bluesy Southern rock band inspired by the smoky juke joints of the hill country.

Mandolin player and vocalist Sam Bush, the godfather of the New Grass Revival band, returns to Steamboat for a March 4 show.

Austin, Texas-born singer-songwriter Lukas Nelson, son of Willie Nelson, will play March 19, accompanied by his band, Promise of the Real.

Blues Traveler front man and harmonica player extraordinaire John Popper plays March 26 with his new project, the Duskray Troubadours, followed by Latin pop rock stars Los Lonely Boys on April 2.

The series finishes with a reggae-themed event April 10.

Katchafire, a New Zealand-based band that originally was a Bob Marley tribute, has been touring the world in support of its four original studio albums.

The Maori band will open for the world-renowned The Wailers, the former band of Jamaican reggae legend Marley.

Concert series booking agent Jon Waldman said he’s thrilled with this lineup, one that has a little something for everyone.

“There’s some new stuff, and there’s some perennial favorites that have played here before,” Waldman said. “North Miss and Sam Bush are bands that have been really popular here.”

John Popper has played in Steamboat, Waldman said, but this will be his first appearance with his new project, the Duskray Troubadours.

Waldman also said that Katchafire, opening for The Wailers, is one of the hottest reggae bands touring right now.

“It’ll be a really fun series for people to enjoy after skiing,” Waldman said. “It offers free music for the community and for visitors, and I think it should be fun.”
