— Ski Town USA Golf Classic chairwoman Mignon Stetman has been involved with the summer fundraiser and golf tournament for 15 of the 16 years.

Strangely, though, she’s never played golf.

She’s never four putted, duck hooked, sliced or hacked her way around.

But somehow she keeps coming back.

“It’s because of what it has to offer,” Stetman said. “There is golf for two days. You get bang for your buck. I’m passionate about the event. It’s one of the best charity events in Steamboat.”

Registration for the 16th annual Ski Town USA Golf Classic is open.

Entry is $375 per player or $1,400 for a team. Entry includes two tickets to the benefit auction and party. Extra tickets to the benefit auction and party are $60. They can be purchased at the door or online.

The field is limited to 216 golfers and more than 120 already have registered.

Saturday also marks the last day to enter for a free registration. To enter the contest, buy tickets to the benefit auction or to register for the tournament, click here.

Play will be at Catamount Ranch & Golf Course and Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club, and play begins June 21 and continues June 22.

On June 20, there is a registration and check-in party from 5 to 7 p.m. at Alpine Bank.

Each golfer also receives a $125 gift certificate to the Titleist sales tent. The sales tent will be on-site at Alpine Bank. The tent will include a wide selection of products including golf balls, wedges, gloves, putters, sunglasses, readers, shirts, shorts, outerwear, socks, shoes, towels, hats, rangefinders, hybrids, golf bags and more.

Play begins at 8:30 a.m. June 21 with a shotgun start. The benefit auction and cocktail party begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort Grand Ballroom. The auction includes more than 100 items, including vacation trips and VIP trips to The Masters and Kentucky Derby, among others.

Play resumes at 8:30 a.m. June 22. The format is a four person shamble with the low net and gross recorded on each hole.

The event serves as a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs and the Routt County United Way. The event has raised more than $1 million and raises more than $100,000 each year.
