Steamboat lacrosse wins 3rd conference game

Luke Graham

— The Steamboat Springs High School boys lacrosse team picked up its third lopsided Mountain Conference win Friday in Grand Junction, downing Durango, 15-1.

Steamboat started slow, but midway through the first quarter blew the game open.

The Sailors again got contributions from all over the field, with nine players registering points. Grant McCannon led the way with five goals, while Christian Ramirez added four. Junior Lance Ostrom chipped in five assists.

"It's not one guy," Steamboat coach Bob Hiester said. "They can't zero in on anybody. We have some nice, skilled offensive players."

Durango didn't get on the board until the third quarter. Steamboat (3-1 overall, 3-0 in conference play) now has outscored conference opponents 51-4 in three games this year.

Steamboat resumes play at noon today in Aspen.
