Steamboat briefs: Weekly Yoga Raves class is Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.

A weekly Yoga Raves class is from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays at Sundance Studio, 385 Anglers Drive, Suite D. All levels are welcome, but some yoga experience is helpful. The first class is free, and subsequent classes are by donation. For more information, contact Lyn Wheaton at 970-443-4326 or

No Name-Calling Week at Steamboat Springs Middle School

As part of No Name-Calling Week through Friday, Steamboat Springs Middle School students will work on activities to will help them understand the impact of verbal bullying and learn strategies for coping with and putting an end to name-calling through reading and writing assignments and discussion groups, according to a news release.

The Friends of Rachel club also will be handing out No Name-Calling Week stickers to students and staff members. Middle school counselor Colleen Quinn encourages families to join in the effort by initiating conversations about language and empathy at home.

No Name-Calling Week has been held annually since 2004 in schools across the country. The week of educational and creative activities are aimed at ending name-calling supporting efforts to eliminate bullying.

LiveWell program to help families with healthy eating

LiveWell Northwest Colorado is helping families be healthy by working to improve eating habits and to be more physically active through the "Let's Go! 5-2-1-0" program. The program sets the goal each day of eating five or more fruits and vegetables, watching two or fewer hours of TV, getting an hour or more of physical activity and drinking zero sugary drinks.
