Steamboat briefs: Volunteers and donations needed for holiday dinner

Steamboat Springs — Routt County United Way and Wells Fargo Bank once again are coordinating the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner. The dinner will be 1 to 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Volunteers to work at the dinner and donations of prepared food are necessary to make this important community event a success. If you can help, call Routt County United Way at 879-5605.
Free sign language class in Craig begins Tuesday
A free sign language class for adults starts Tuesday in Craig. The class will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at Calvary Baptist Church, 1050 Yampa Ave. It will last eight to 10 weeks. Participants can buy books at Colorado Northwestern Community College and online. For information, call 824-2547 and ask for Deena or Staci.
Hayden food bank offers food baskets Nov. 23
The Hayden Community Food Bank will distribute Thanksgiving Baskets from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Solandt Memorial Hospital in Hayden. If you need a basket for your family, please call Theresa Stivers by Nov. 20 at 276-2507.
Applications for historic register are due Dec. 3
Applications for designation on the Routt County Register of Historic Properties are due at the Routt County Courthouse, in the county commissioners' office, by Dec. 3. The Historic Preservation Board will review applications Dec. 16. Call Dee Bolton at 970-879-0108 for details.
Seasonal flu vaccine now available for all ages
Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association now has seasonal flu vaccine available for all ages. H1N1 vaccine is only available for certain high-risk groups at this time. Horizons seeks volunteers to serve as local mentors
Horizons Specialized Services is seeking volunteers to serve as mentors to individuals with developmental disabilities. Volunteers spend at least three hours a month with Horizons clients. Activities can include hiking, biking, bowling, swimming, fishing, walks and more. If interested, call Rebecca Hanson at 879-4466, ext. 111.
