Steamboat briefs: Steamboat Winter Sports Club fundraiser ongoing

Steamboat Springs — Guess how many boots are in a gondola car as part of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Boots in the 'Boat fundraiser. The gondola car will be at the Winter Sports Club office at Howelsen Hill from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
It will be at City Market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday through Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
And it will be in Gondola Square from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Nov. 27.
At 2 p.m. Nov. 27, the gondola car will be opened and the boots will be counted.
The cost is $5 for one guess or $25 for six guesses. The money will go to the Winter Sports Club and help with the general operations and day-to-day expenses of the club.
The top three prizes are a day of skiing for two with Steamboat Powdercats, a parking spot for the season in the Winter Sports Club parking lot at the Christie base and an iPad 2. The winner will get his or her choice of one of the prizes first.
Church's Work of Human Hands Holiday event Saturday
Holy Name Catholic Church, 524 Oak St., hosts the 14th annual Work of Human Hands Holiday Craft Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Handmade gifts and fair-trade products include baskets, jewelry, toys, musical instruments, candles, kitchen items, scarves and holiday items. The event includes a bake sale benefiting Holy Name's youth group and an authentic Mexican food luncheon. Proceeds will be donated to a local charity.
Fundraiser is Saturday for Hayden athletic programs
The Tiger Athletic Gala, a fundraiser for Hayden middle and high school athletic programs, is at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Routt County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and younger and $30 for a family of four. The event includes a live and silent auction, raffle and barbecue dinner.
