Scott Stanford: Barn Dance sponsors deserve proper thanks
October 16, 2011
Steamboat Springs — Sometimes we can't get out of our own way.
Such is the case with an advertisement we have been trying to run for nearly a week thanking the sponsors and contributors to the Community Barn Dance and Barbecue at Sidney Peak Ranch. We have run the ad three times. Each time, the ad contained an error.
The ad is in Monday's newspaper on page 4.
My wife and I attend the Barn Dance every year and walk away impressed with how it continues to grow. It's a lot of fun, and it's for a very worthy cause. This year, the event raised more than $18,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Steamboat Springs and another $5,000 for Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs charities.
Members of the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs, who organized the event, simply wanted to place an ad thanking the event's sponsors for making it a success. I apologize for our errors. There are reasons such mistakes happen, but there are no excuses. We should have gotten the ad right.
So let me take a moment to thank the people and businesses that made the Barn Dance happen. First, a big thanks to Wells Fargo Bank, the presenting sponsor of the event.
Gold sponsors were Central Park Liquor and Lyman Orton.
Silver sponsors included Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp., Yampa Valley Electric Association, Prudential Steamboat Realty, KBCR Big Country Radio, Steamboat FlyFisher, Sidney Peak Ranch, Steamboat Motors and the Steamboat Pilot & Today.
Bronze sponsors included Christy Sports, Moose Mountain Trading Company, Zirkel Trading, Alpine Bank, Central Park Management, Rocky Mountain Asphalt, Holiday Inn, McCreight Progressive Dentistry, The Porches, Dawes & Associates, Mountain West Insurance, the Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs, McDonald's, Karl Gills, Mountain Paint, Rotary Club of Doctor Phillips, Black Tie Ski Rentals, First National Bank of the Rockies, Steamboat Springs High School, Vectra Bank, Cottonwood Grill, Ciao Gelato and the city of Steamboat Springs.
More bronze sponsors included Catamount Ranch & Club, Alpine Pro Tint and Window Washing, Moving Mountains Catering, NRC Broadcasting, Steamboat Carpet Care, Eco Boat Cleaning, DKN Services, Orange Peel Bicycle Service, Randy Rudasics, SmartWool, Bella's Wine Bar, bistro c.v., Sweetwater Grill, White Glove Services, Ski Town Cleaners, Soda Creek Pizza, Paula Cooper Black, Bear Lodge at Trappeur's Crossing, Snow Bowl, Safeway, Ore House at the Pine Grove, US Foods, Sweet Pea Tours and B&K Distributing.
And even more bronze sponsors were Coca-Cola, Mountain View Car Wash, The Rusted Porch, Rex's American Grill & Bar, Mazzola's Majestic Italian Diner, Big House Burgers & Bottlecap Bar, Saddleback Ranch, Todd Musselman, Zephyr Helicopter Company, Joe Pete LaRusso, Wild West Balloon Adventures, The Denver Center, Invesco, Downtown Aquarium, Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series, Starbucks, Aces High Services, Colorado Event Rentals, Northwest Graphics, Steve Green Company, Three Peaks Grill and Harwigs/L'Apogee.
The bottom line is that a lot of individuals and businesses put up time, money, products and services to make a great community event happen. Please join me in saluting and thanking them.
