Rex’s American Grill & Bar: Natural Flavors and Ingredients

One of Steamboat Springs’ newest restaurants, Rex’s American Grill and Bar, has quickly become a popular spot for locals and guests of the Holiday Inn, where it is located. Opened in 2006, Rex’s has established a reputation as a great place to eat, meet friends and watch the game on a high definition television.

“We have an amazing number of locals who come in, and that started quickly after we opened. This has become the spot to be for locals,” said owner Rex Brice, who also owns Mazzola’s restaurant downtown and Big House Burgers on the west side of town. He operates all establishments under the auspices of his company, The Steamboat Restaurant Group.

Brice and his chefs prepare gourmet dishes from scratch at all three restaurants. They pride themselves on creating fabulous homemade food with no additives or preservatives. The food is matched by the excellent service – Rex’s is ranked the No. 1 restaurant for customer service and satisfaction by InterContinental Hotel Group.

But there’s more to Rex’s than just great food and drinks. At all of Rex’s restaurants, they are very proud to use only natural beef raised right here in the Yampa Valley from River Ranches Beef. They strive to be an industry leader in Sustainable Earth Restaurant Practices, by serving seafood from suppliers that practice sustainable harvesting of wild fish, and Colorado Pride all-natural chickens as well as cage-free eggs. They use eco-friendly, locally made, biodegradable and recycled products whenever possible.

The atmosphere is casual, warm and inviting – just as comfortable for a couple seeking a nice dinner for two as it is for a gathering of friends seeking drinks and appetizers.

“We have the best sports viewing in town,” said Brice. “There are six high-definition TVs in the main bar and two more outside.”

Outside is Rex’s Backyard Bar, a patio setting where customers can relax and enjoy the open air during warm months. Local musicians often provide music.

Happy Hour, from 4:20 to 6 p.m. daily, is a popular time at Rex’s. Drink specials and half-price appetizers attract a large crowd.
